Dear Parents,
Greetings from The Millennium School!
Guru Purnima is one of the most important days observed in our country as it is on this day, people pay ode to their gurus or teachers and mentors.
Interestingly, the Sanskrit word ‘Guru’ is derived from Gu and Ru - where Gu means ignorance or darkness and Ru refers to elimination or removal. Therefore, as per Indian tradition the ‘Guru’ is the one who dispels darkness in the form of ignorance by showering the light of knowledge on their students. Hence, pupils pay tribute to their teachers for nurturing them with values and imparting education.
The following activities have been planned for the students of Grades I to III to commemorate the day and to celebrate the most revered ‘Guru Shishya’ bond of love and mutual respect.
Grade I: Importance of a ‘Mentor’
Record a bilingual video (Hindi and English) of 1 minute duration, while speaking about the importance of a mentor in our lives. Students may dress up in either traditional attire or school uniform for the video.
Grade II: Portrait of my Guru
Prepare a creative and vibrant poster (A4 or A3 size) depicting the importance of teachers.
Grade III: My Guru…My Guide
Record a short video of 1 minute duration, while speaking about a few lessons for life, acquired from your favourite teachers or mentors. Students may opt to dress up in either traditional attire or school uniform for the video.
Note:
• All videos must be shot in landscape mode against a pleasant background.
• All entries must reach the respective class teacher by 5:00 pm on 22nd July 2021.
