The astrophile students of The Millennium School, South City, Lucknow went for an educational visit to the Remote Sensing Application Centre (ISRO Regional), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on 8th September 2023. Dr. P. Kunwar, Senior Scientist and Director, RRSC, ISRO, opened the session with a welcome note.Therafter Dr. Sudhakar Shukla, Senior Scientist, RRSC, ISRO Lucknow gave the keynote lecture. The address featured a detailed description of ISRO’s journey from Earth to Space. He also discussed ISRO’s achievements in space technology and the different space missions that the agency has undertaken. He also discussed the Regional Remote Sensing Centre’s involvement in imaging, geospatial analysis, and ground instrumentation, and how the Remote Sensing Centre is involved in crop forecasting and other social activities. A session was held to discuss the opportunities and challenges in the field of remote sensing and GIS. The students were also guided about the requirements for applying for Internships and Student Projects at ISRO. Students also visited the Laboratory where they saw numerous types of launch vehicles like as SLVs, GSLVs, and PSLVs, among others. Post the visit, the exhilarated students thanked the Head of the Institution, Dr Manjula Goswami for initiating this wonderful visit and encouraging them to foresee future in the field of Space Technology, a step in advancement parallel to India’s Chandrayaan IIII mission.
