The students of TMS had an enthralling experience travelling and exploring the mesmerizing beauty of Rajasthan.
The journey started from Lucknow wherein students took a late night train for the Capital i.e. New Delhi. Next morning, after reaching the capital, students visited Lotus Temple, the House of Worship . Post lunch students visited Dilli Haat, an open-air food plaza and craft bazaar, and then boarded Jodhpur at night.
Next morning, students visited Jaswant Thada, a cenotaph located in Jodhpur, in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh of Jodhpur State in 1899 in the memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The next destination was Mehrangarh Fort where students were divided in to teams to conduct an assigned activity in the fort . The Fort, Built in around 1460 by Rao Jodha, is situated 410 feet (125 m) above the city and is enclosed by thick walls from all sides. Inside its boundaries there are several palaces known for their intricate carvings and expansive courtyards. A programme named young author was briefed by the journey mentors at the Hotel in the evening. The next destination was Jaisalmer which was around 290kms from Jodhpur.
The students had their breakfast in the morning and made their move for Jaisalmer. On reaching Jaisalmer, post Lunch at the famous Chokhi Dhani the palace hotel students left for Jaisalmer Fort. The fort's massive yellow sandstone walls have a tawny lion colour during the day, fading to honey-gold as the sun sets, thereby camouflaging the fort in the yellow desert. So it is also known as the Sonar Quila or Golden Fort. After visiting the Fort, students went through the narrorw steets for Patwaon ki Heveli.
The Patwon Ji ki Haveli is the first erected most important and the largest haveli, at Jaisalmer. It is not a single haveli but a cluster of 5 small havelis. students were given 2 hours to visit the market area wherein they bought authentic items for themselves and family. It was quite tight schedule for the day, so everyone went to sleep after the dinner.
Next morning, the students visited Gadi Sagar Lake, the largest lake in the city where they enjoyed boating in the lake. The next destination was Vyas Chattri, dedicated to Sage Vyas, who wrote the mega epic Mahabharata, Vyas Chhatri had beautiful memorials, and is a cremation ground for Brahmins. After lunch, the students took off for the Desert camps where they had thrilling experience of Jeep Safari and Camel Safari on the sand dunes. The cultural programmes like Puppet show, Rajasthani Folk dance (Ghoomar) and DJ had also been arranged for the students. The highlight of the night was the typical scrumptious Rajasthani food which was enjoyed by everyone, especially the senior students.
Next day, the students had to board the train for Lucknow from Jodhpur. So, after an early breakfast, everyone left for Jodhpur, which was 5 hours journey from Jaisalmer. After boarding the train, students reached Lucknow the next day afternoon. They had fun travelling, singing, dancing, learning and exploring the beautiful cities of jiasalmer and Jodhpur, which would indeed be a memorable milestone in their lives.
