Across the world, crises are increasingly complex and humanitarian need is vast. More and more lives are being destroyed by armed conflict, violence, and climate change; and when natural disasters strike, they are more severe and numerous.
It is during these times that the work of the volunteers of Red Cross Society becomes more important than ever.
To recognize the incredible contribution of the millions of volunteers of Red Cross around the world, the students of The Millennium School, South City, Lucknow observed World Red Cross Day on 19thMay, 2018 .
The fundamental principles of humanity, independence, impartiality and neutrality were highlighted during the Special Assembly.
With the motto to mobilize the power of humanity and to teach the learners to prevent and alleviate human suffering, a FIRST AID SKILLS workshop was conducted by Dr. Deepak Dewan. He equipped the students with basic knowledge of first aid and made the students realize that the basic knowledge of first aid could mark the difference between life and death.
The workshop was followed by another interesting activity for the day.
To recollect the technological advancements the world over, a Photography Exhibition was organized by the students of Class VI to VIII on the theme ‘Technology’. The exhibition glorified the importance of Science and Technology in our day to day lives. It also turned out to be the best day to encourage aspiring photographers to exhibit their talent through the photographs clicked by them.
All in all, the gratifying Saturday was filled with fun, frolic and exciting activities that left everyone bubbling with joy.
The day reached its zenith when the Principal of the school, Dr. Manjula Goswami exhorted the students to be helping hands and to lead a life of service to reaffirm our commitment to humanity.
