The staff and students of The Millennium School, South City, Lucknow pledged their support for the ‘RALLY FOR RIVERS’ awareness campaign by joining in large numbers at the Ambedkar Auditorium, RML Law University, Lucknow on 26th September,2017.
‘RALLY FOR RIVERS’ is a crusade boosted by the spiritual master and environmentalist, Shri Sadhguru and his ISHA FOUNDATION. Sadhguru has been travelling from Kanya Kumari to Kashmir since the beginning of September, to implore people across the length and breadth of the country to join the initiative. His visit to Lucknow is a part of the itinerary of travelling to 16 states before he submits his petition for a positive river policy to the government of India.
The Chief Guest to the event was Shri Yogi Adityanathji, honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh .He addressed the gathering to sensitize people about the sufferings of the Mother Earth and how it is going to affect the generations to come. Deputy Chief Ministers,Mr.Dinesh Sharma and Mr.Keshav Prasad Maurya also showed their solidarity to the effort of Isha Foundation.
Mr. Shantanu Prakash, Chairman and Managing Director of Educomp Solutions Ltd. also joined the august endeavour and appealed to the students to contribute in their capacity to save our rivers from depletion.Mr.Suresh Raina,the youth ideal and celebrated cricketer also stirred the audience with his emphatic words.
The revered mystic, Sadhguru said that the simplest solution to rejuvenate India’s rivers is to maintain a minimum of one kilometre tree covers on riversides. This will ensure that our rivers are fed throughout the year by the moist soil. This will also reduce floods, drought and soil loss, and increase the income of farmers. He beseeched scientists, experts and practitioners to contribute their knowledge and expertise towards creating a roadmap to rejuvenate our depleting rivers and save the lifelines of our country.
The acclaimed playback singer and the former front-man of the Indipop band Silk Route, Mohit Chauhan performed at the event and rooted for the sacred enterprise adopted by the Isha Foundation.
