Freedom is a gift placed in our hands by our great leaders.15th August, the Independence Day of India, marks the beginning of a glorious chapter in history. It commemorates the birth of the world’s largest democracy.
The Millennium School celebrated India’s 68th Independence Day with a fervent spirit of patriotism .The festivities started with the flag hoisting ceremony. The students saluted the flag and sang the National Anthem. The newly appointed Head Boy and Head Girl gave thought-provoking speeches. The Principal of the school, Dr. Goswami, inspired the students with her eloquent words. She implored the students to hold the reins of the country in their hands and write a beautiful chapter on the slate of future.
The essence of the national festival came alive through different competitions. There was a poster making competition on the topic ‘Green India’, a slogan -writing competition on the topic ‘Freedom -Self-esteem’, a high spirited basketball match and a fiery Declamation competition.
In an attempt to inculcate the virtues of compassion and empathy, the students of Class VI visited Cheshire Home (an old age home) and distributed sweets. A major charm was the young cherubs of ‘Little Millennium’ who came dressed as different freedom fighters. The day culminated with the distribution of sweets.
