SAVE TIGER
Global Tiger Day is a celebration to promote public awareness and support for natural habitat of tigers.
The Millennium School, Lucknow celebrated Global Tiger Day on 27th July, 2016. This day saw the school abuzz with different activities to promote the 'Save Tiger Campaign'. Beautiful masks of Tigers were made by students.
The students were made aware that when we save a tiger, we preserve the food chain. For the first time in 100 years, the numbers of tigers in India is growing. After a century of constant decline, the number of wild tigers is on the rise! According to the most recent data, at least 3,890 tigers now exist in the wild—up from an estimated 3,200 in 2010. There are 49 tiger reserves in India which are governed by Project Tiger which is administered by the National Tiger Conservation Authority. India is home to 70 percent of tigers in the world. In 2006, there were 1,411 tigers which increased to 1,706 in 2011 and 2,226 in 2014.The Corbett Tiger Reserve, has 164 tigers.
The Principal of the school, Dr. Manjula Goswami addressed the students and advised them to be responsible citizens and voice their roar for India's tigers. She implored students to come forward to strengthen this noble cause.
