ACTIVITIES GALORE AT THE MILLENNIUM SCHOOL

 “Education is a broad concept that surpasses the four walls of a classroom. The core aim is to foster the all round development of a child.”

Co-curricular activities in school facilitate the development of various domains of mind and personality such as intellectual, emotional, social, moral and aesthetic. Also, creativity, enthusiasm, positive thinking are some of the facets of personality development and the outcome of extracurricular activities. These are the activities through which a learner explores his/her abilities, develops his strength and vanquishes his shortcomings.To further this cause, The Millennium School, South City, Lucknow has woven a plethora of activities into the academic time table of Saturdays. Each third Saturday of the month is an ‘Activity Day’ for students.On 21st April, 2018, the students of classes VI to VIII conducted a Special Assembly which was followed by numerous invigorating activities to train them in various skills.To observe Earth Day, a Plantation Activity was held for the students of class VI. They were asked to bring saplings and plant them in the school premises, leading to awareness with regard to environment conservation. The children gained knowledge in a fun and hands on way. To foster a sense of responsibility towards the environment, an Environment quiz was held for the students of Class VII. The students participated with great enthusiasm and skillfully answered the tricky questions. With the objective of raising awareness and sensitizing the students towards the rich cultural heritage and diversity of our country, a Heritage Quiz was held for the students of class VIII.Games and sports directly contribute to the physical development of students .These activities provide a useful channel for the growth and development of the body. To sharpen their talent and inculcate team spirit, confidence, leadership skills among students, various indoor and outdoor sports activities were conducted.

The day culminated with elation and pride in the air, as the students participated in all the activities with great fervor and gusto.The Principal of the school, Dr. Manjula Goswami joined the students in the Plantation Drive. She implored the students to work relentlessly towards environment conservation.
