Following the philosophy ‘Keep your Eyes On Safety’, The Millennium School, Kurukshetra conduced a Mock Evacuation Drill on the occasion of the International Firefighters’  Day on 4 May 2019. The purpose of the drill was to ensure the safety of the  students and the staff,  and also to get them acquainted with the techniques to tackle the catastrophic condition like fire-spread.  As soon as the alarm blew, all the students vacated the building within two minutes and assembled in the open space. All the teachers and other staff members checked each and every possible place, like washrooms, classrooms, medical-room, etc. to determine that no student should stay in the building. The students were advised to be precautious without getting panic in any adverse situation.  First of all, the source of fire should be separated from the fire catching objects. If the body catches fire, one should not run; rather must lie on the ground and roll the body to put out the flame. The students were also shown the technique of using the fire extinguishers to overcome the fire. Hence, the drill proved to be very helpful to the students.
