The Millennium School, Kurukshetra is hosting the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) North Zone-II Chess Tournament 2019 in its premises. As many as 89 teams from all over north India are participating in the grand event. The teams playing under-11, 14, 17 and 19 age groups started reporting at the school from the early evening of 3 October for the confirmation of their registration. The entire campus is bubbling with the cognizant chess players who are being provided the accommodation with a warm welcome.The first day of the tournament started with the assembling of all the chess players along with their school flag in the playground. The players took their position as per the allotted sequence and started the March Past following the School Captains of The Millennium School, Kurukshetra. All the teams holding the flag of their school walked gracefully on the tune of the martial music. The Chief Guest Mr. Arun Ashri, the District Education Officer (DEO) presided over the Opening Ceremony. The guests were welcomed with the melodious singing of the welcome song and the cultural dances Garba and Bhangra. Then, the Chief Guest hoisted the CBSE flag and declared the CBSE North Zone-II Chess Meet 2019 Open, which was further followed by the release of the balloons as a symbol of peace and goodwill. The Chief Guest addressed the players and encouraged them to play zealously and with the feeling of sportsmanship. He also urged them to avoid using plastic and to plant more and more trees to conserve the environment whole heartedly.
