On the second day of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) North Zone-II Chess Tournament 2019, as many as 89 teams accumulated in the premises of The Millennium School, Kurukshetra from the nearby states Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, NCRs and the union territory Jammu & Kashmir. Total 912 players are playing under-11, 14, 17 and 19 age groups (boys and girls) in the scheduled rounds in the multi-purpose hall and the amphitheatre of the school.The day began with the announcement of the general instructions which were being listened by the fervent champions very meticulously. Under-19 boys and girls category, Cambridge International School, Jalandhar and Janakidas Kapoor Public School, Sonipat have got a lead as the second day got over. On the other hand, D. A. V. School, Gurugram and Amity International School, Gurugram have got a lead in under-17 boys category. In under-14 boys and girls category, Cambridge International School, Jalandhar, Learning Path, Mohali and The Millennium School, Panipat are scoring good points at the chess boards. Similarly under-14 boys, Amity International School, Gurugram is performing phenomenally well. The results of the teams are being prepared simultaneously under the supervision of the designated panel of arbiters as per the rules and regulations of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) which is headed by Mr. Gourav Chhabra. Any query or doubt of the players is removed on the spot for the smooth functioning of the matches.The Director of the Chess Tournament, Principal Dr. A. K. Singh is always on the special rounds for observations. He stated that commencement of the biggest carnival of chess in The Millennium School, Kurukshetra is a matter of proud for the north zone as it is being organized extremely vigilantly by taking care of each norm prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. He also acknowledged the sincere dedication and zeal of all the players who have come here from various places to assess their own competence and to learn more skills at this prominent level.
