In a remarkable display of talent and compassion, the students of The Millennium School Amritsar performed the play "Kacchiyan Kandhan" on 28th and 29th of September, at the prestigious Punjab Naatshala, leaving the audience in awe. The event, organized for a charitable cause, brought together art and service, embodying the true spirit of community support. The Chief Guest of the event S. Gurjit Singh Aujla (Member of Parliament, Amritsar) lauded the efforts of the students. Mr. Jatinder Brar (Naatshala Founder), Dr Simarpreet Virk Sandhu (FICCI President), Dr. Manjit Singh Uppal (Vice Chancellor- Guru Ram Das Hospital ), Mr. Sonu Mohindru, Mr. Anil Singhal, Mr Avinash Mahendru, Mr. Rouble Tuli, Ms. Shikha Tuli, Mr Anil Singhal, Ms. Chaman Mehra, Mr Bhandari, Mrs Renu Bhandari, Dr Narang, Dr K. K. Mahajan along with the members of Rotary Club and Innerwheel Club were among the other prominent guests.
This production was not only a showcase of talent but also a fundraiser, with all proceeds supporting three local organizations: India Vision Foundation, Rotary Club-Amritsar Civil Lines, and Innerwheel Club. The students' dedication to social causes shines through in their choice of play and commitment to giving back to the community. Through initiatives like this, Ms.Shailja Tandon (Principal) is setting an inspiring example for the students by fostering a culture of giving back to the community. Her vision of inculcating the value of service to society is evident in the success of this event, making it a memorable and impactful experience for all involved.
Under the skilled guidance of Nandini Malhotra (Writer of the play) and Ms. Sandeep Kaur (Director of the play), the young actors delivered powerful performances that captivated the audience. Each scene resonated with emotion, showcasing the students’ dedication to their craft.
The play, a poignant exploration of a family's struggles, revolved around Jagir Kaur, a domineering mother, and her silent husband, Hakam Singh. Through powerful performances, the students highlighted the consequences of silence in the face of conflict, emphasizing the importance of finding one's voice and breaking the silence that can lead to misunderstandings and societal unravelling.
The charitable cause was at the heart of the event, reminding everyone of the profound impact that young minds, under the right guidance, can have on society. "Kacchiyan Kandhan" was a resounding success, building on the momentum of last year's production, "Dhuan". The Millennium School, Amritsar, has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence in theatre and social responsibility.
