Instructional Procedure

TMS School applies a unique innovative approach called The Millennium Learning System™, aptly called the ‘Science of Education’. The MLS™ approach is the brainchild of a group of well-known educationists and researchers. They have also created pioneering innovative learning systems such as Little Millennium™ , Scaffolding Learning System and the E-DAC™ . Based on their extensive experience and intensive research, they bring forth the MLS™ approach, an approach based on child psychology and well-known principles of learning and pedagogy. Using the most advanced audio, visual and kinaesthetic learning techniques, the MLS makes education effortless and effective. All across India, there are several Millennium Schools which utilise the uniquely systematic methodology of the MLS in their philosophy, policies and practices.

The Curriculum Approach - MLS™approach

The Millennium Learning SystemTM is based on the belief that locked within every child is the inherent potential for greatness. It identifies the specific skill set of every child and helps each one of them to derive motivation from within as well as from the environment. Surroundings, peers, parents and teachers provide the children with positive influences to unlock self growth. Four major domains of talent development laid out by the Millennium Learning SystemTM are:

  • Intellectual abilities: Encompassing the areas of language, mathematics and science, intellectual ability development including reading, writing and oral communication, traditional and applied mathematics, space programs, robotics, inventions, forensic skills and other inspiring learning projects.
  • Creative abilities: Covering confidence-building and mind-expanding project areas such as Indian and world vocal and instrumental music, dance, drama, photography, painting and sculpture.
  • Physical and mental abilities: Offering a variety of physical and mental activities for a healthy young mind and body including yoga, athletics, team sports, adventure sports and chess.
  • Social abilities: To enable each child to improve his interactions with classmates, teachers and parents, there are various projects which deal with concepts such as development of leadership qualities, problem solving abilities and interpersonal communication. The entire MLS family, from parents to teachers and to the students themselves, plays an important role in identifying individual talent. Our prescriptive, ‘Science of Education’ approach develops them to their fullest potential.

Levels Of MLS™

i) MLS (Little Millennium) – 2.5 to 5 years (PrePrimary)

The Millennium Learning SystemTM ‘begins at the beginning’, that is, at the level when roots are formed and the foundations of learning are laid. In the Little Millennium stage, a unique Roots Approach has been formulated which is used to nurture a feeling of love and protection. An amalgamation of international educational approaches is engaged, from the play way method to the Montessori method, to encourage freedom of thought, expression, confidence and creativity while we are able to form a thorough understanding of the young individual. The result is the growth of an independence of thought and the laying of a solid foundation for lifelong learning.

ii) MLS, Level One – (Primary)

As the children begin to ask questions, The Millennium School is ready to equip them with the resources which will help them seek answers. During this stage, learning-by-doing and project-based approaches are applied, allowing the child to apply knowledge, experiment and practice. At the same time, teaching is tailored to the unique qualities of each child, bringing forth their hidden capabilities to build them into dependable citizens with a strong value set.

iii)  MLS, Level Two – Classes 6 to 8

As the children move towards adulthood, they are taught to apply their problem-solving skills with focus and decisive insight to real-world situations. Throughout this stage, students are exposed to over 300 vocations and guided as they uncover their destiny in life. This stage of the Millennium Learning SystemTM equips a child with the ability to plan their future role as a valued leader and influencer in society, resulting in a focused career and happy life. It is this predictive capability that defines the Millennium Learning SystemTM as the true ‘Science of Education’.

iv) MLS, Level Three – Classes IX to XII

By the time a child prepares to head out into the world, The Millennium School has an in-depth knowledge of his inherent strengths and weaknesses, gathered through years of assessment and mind mapping. Besides helping the children to discover their paths in life and equipping them accordingly, the MLS also helps them prepare for important upcoming exams. This is approached through the triumvirate methods of knowledge acquisition, retention and application. Students acquire knowledge through vibrant multimedia explanations and are taught a variety of techniques to suit the way their mind works to retain knowledge.

Tools Of Learning

Well-structured curriculum: Each stage of the curriculum has been designed systematically with rich content, a diverse style of approach and a flexible and focused methodology. The objective is to go beyond theory and make knowledge useful even outside the realm of books and examinations.

SmartclassTM Technology: SmartclassTM is a digital initiative by Educomp Solutions. This initiative endeavours to make available a vast resource of knowledge content to each class through an interactive multimedia white board, thereby fostering a better understanding and igniting a lifelong love of learning. It also:

  • Brings abstract and difficult curriculum concepts to life
  • Improves the teacher’s effectiveness and productivity
  • Makes learning an enjoyable experience for students
  • Maximises the academic performance of students
  • Enables a constant monitoring of your child’s progress in class

Innovative textbooks: Over 22,000 pages of content has been developed into workbooks which are fun and facilitate learning through activities and games. These books are application-based and enable children to understand the world around them, with minimal assistance from the teacher. To ensure that the learning process is made a truly meaningful and holistic one, children are introduced to each subject through a series of practical work and project work. Textbooks are linked to project files, making every concept relevant, practical and application based. This helps to make the process an enjoyable and memorable experience, ensuring that it is retained for life. Beyond the basic project work, middle school children are taught to link together similar concepts and are helped in applying them to various vocations that they may come across in future. The children study as apprentices and work on projects using the concepts learnt, forging a connection between what the children have learnt in class and being able to apply it in their real lives.

Tools Of Teaching

Unique dictionary: Young learners are encouraged to improve their vocabulary at every step of the learning ladder. To aid memory, the Millennium Learning SystemTM uses a unique visual dictionary to record and explain every word a child has come across in the educational environment.

Intuitive assessments: Daily, low-pressure assessments are integrated into each class to better identify the strengths and limitations of every child and allow teachers to tailor their educational approach. A specially designed program is used to interpret the data collected and the results are a part of the ongoing scientific assessment of the child. The analysis is further used to guide the child in making future vocational choices.

Scientific teaching methods: The objective is to teach children at their own natural pace. The instructor approaches more difficult lessons gradually, ensuring that a strong base has been established. No new lesson is begun until every child has absorbed the previous lesson. Teaching methods ensure that every child absorbs maximum new knowledge in a natural and effortless way, bringing slow learners up to speed, whilst keeping the most advanced children constantly engaged and excited by the educational experience.

Trained teachers: To prepare caring professionals who ‘Teach for Understanding’, all our teachers undergo continuous professional development. They are equipped with a vast repertoire of the latest tools and techniques as well as an updated knowledge on the best educational practices from around the globe.
