Grade IV – Summer Break Assignment
Dear Parents
Summer break is round the corner and we are sure that children must have made plans for visiting their grandparents, relatives and friends, watching television during the day, taking a dip in the swimming pool and joining some activity classes with their friends. We wish that they enjoy every minute of this long break.
However, it will be great if you could find time to take them to visit museums and monuments, and encourage them to learn new things, read as many story books as possible, help parents and grandparents, go for morning walk and play in the park in the evenings.
We are also giving a variety of fun-filled activities which they can do during the noon time. Request to help the kids do them neatly and submit the assignment after the vacation. Here’s wishing all a very enjoyable and fun-packed summer break! See you on Monday, June 11, 2018.
EVS: Note: The assignment is to be done in EVS notebooks.
1) Prepare a small report (in approximately 200 words) on the heritage of your family. The details should include the traditional festivals, food, language, dress and dance. Stick pictures related to the same.
2) Find information about the following officials and document the same in about 100 words for each. Also stick their pictures.
a) Prime Minister of India b) President of India
c) Chief Minister of your state d) Municipal Corporation of your city
3) Prepare a chart (A4 size) on the cause and effect of global warming. Also mention what you can do to prevent it.
Math: 1) Find out the population of your city in the years 1991 and 2001.
2) Collect the information on the history of Mathematics and various tools that man used to make multiplication faster. Also find out how multiplication is used in “Vedic maths”.
3) Make a chart of Tables from 12 to 20.
English: Make a separate thin single line notebook for English Homework.
1) Do fifteen pages of cursive writing with correct formations everyday (mention date on each page).
2) Find the homophones of the following words and write in the note book:-
Dessert, stationary, sun, blew, right, plane, road, tale.
3) Read any of these classic stories as a part of leisure reading, and to inculcate book reading as a hobby.

Now pick up any one story of your choice and write two learning’s from it.
4) Let’s have “Fun with Words”. Make as many new words as you can from the given words. Select any one word and make a beautiful cutout on a half drawing sheet (size 56 cm by 35 cm) as shown below.
